One suicide victim who committed suicide by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge left behind a note saying: “I’m going to walk to the bridge. If one person smiles at me on the way, I will not jump.”

Is it weird that this makes me really glad I’m the kind of person that smiles at everyone?
Unfortunately, we have been brainwashed, young and old, to believe that everyone is a possible rapist or some kinda nutter, trusting nobody, especially if they look you in the eyes, and smile.Look at all the movies with ‘smiling’ killers..look at all the books with ‘smiling, evil, jealous killers’. Real killers ,Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahlmer, Ted Bundy, Fred West, Ian Brady Myra Hyndley the list goes on of evil, smiling, sniggering cold people….I’d be scared to smile at a young lady now.Its lost its true meaning during the 20th century and beyond.
That’s very true. Now everyone fears everyone.
I smile at everyone I pass on the street, usually I say “Good morning” or “Hello” etc. I think it’s just courteous.
This makes me so sad. I try and smile at everyone. It feels really good to recieve one in return.
I make use of the fact I look pretty unthreatening (5”2, female, non-athletic) to always smile at people. I agree, it makes my day when someone smiles back.
i try to always smile at people. even in school. theres no point in being moody. lifes too short.
